Hilton Head Island’s golf culture and rich history in the sport have put it on the map as one of the top golfing destinations in the world.
For golf enthusiasts and the occasional weekend golfer alike, Hilton Head Island is a premier destination. It’s likely at the very top of many golfers’ bucket lists – and for good reason. Hilton Head Island is home to more than two dozen world-class golf courses, is a yearly stop on the PGA Tour schedule, and boasts ideal golf weather year-round.
Every April, the RBC Heritage Tournament, a PGA tour event, is contested at Harbour Town Golf Links, a course known for its iconic red and white striped lighthouse. Many visitors will schedule a tee time at Harbour Town in the weeks following the RBC Heritage in an effort to experience the same course that past champions like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and most recently, Jordan Spieth have. But fear not, if Harbour Town Golf Links is a higher degree of difficulty or a higher price point than you’re looking for, there are plenty of other breathtaking golf courses that may better suit your golf game.
Tee it up on Heritage Golf Group’s Oyster Reef, Port Royal Golf Club, or Shipyard Golf Club, or reserve a time at one of two championship courses at Palmetto Hall. Interested in trying out a Gary Player design? Try Dolphin Head Golf Club, located just minutes from Hilton Head Airport. If you’d prefer a Rees Jones design, take a stroll through the tall pines and winding doglegs of Bear Creek Golf Club’s Par 72 Championship Course. Just off the island in neighboring Bluffton, SC is Crescent Point Golf Club and Eagle’s Pointe Golf Club, both members of the Hallmark Golf Group.
Wherever you decide to play during your Hilton Head Island Vacation, you will not be disappointed. Find out firsthand why Hilton Head Island has long been known as one of the best golf destinations in the world!
